15" Hybrid Woofer System

All Grotto Series drivers are engineered using Klippel analysis for dynamic output and low distortion. The Grotto 15 pairs a 15" active aluminum woofer with dual 15" passive radiators, delivering the low-frequency extension of a ported design in the compact size and tight bass of a sealed one. Aluminum cones provide quick response, high output, and reliability, while rigid cast aluminum baskets and large motor structures handle the power of the MT-2kW amplifier. The passive radiators are built to the same standard as the active driver, so they match both acoustically and visually.

Raw Power Meets High Precision With The Magnitude MT-2kW Amplifier

MartinLogan’s proprietary Magnitude Amplifiers unleash the full potential of the custom engineered Grotto woofers. The highly advanced Magnitude MT-2kW delivers up to 2,000w Peak(1,000w RMS) of low-distortion power for concussive impact and effortless musicality. This ultra-efficient Class-D amplifier delivers nearly endless reserves of clean power with incredible precision and control, even during the most demanding content.

Advanced Vojtko DSP Engine

Grotto subwoofers are powered by the Vojtko DSP engine, named after MartinLogan’s Chief Audio Technologist, Joe Vojtko. Its 500MHz, 64-bit processor controls subwoofer performance in real time, letting MartinLogan engineers calibrate for maximum output and fidelity with complete audible transparency. That processing power also enables wireless app control, integrated wireless signal connection, and compatibility with Anthem Room Correction.

Optimize Bass Performance with the Award-Winning ARC® Genesis Room Correction System

This highly advanced software measures the in-room performance of the subwoofer and conducts custom equalization, tuning, and calibration to achieve the highest levels of bass impact, smoothness, and accuracy. Calibration only takes a few minutes using the ARC Genesis software, and an ARC Calibration Kit(sold separately) which works on both PC and Mac.

Structurally Sound

The cabinet plays a critical role in the sound quality of a speaker. Grotto 15 cabinets are made of one-inch thick MDF(Medium Density Fiberboard) with additional reinforcement on the woofer baffles and dual center braces, robust enough to withstand the forces of the 15-inch Hybrid Woofer System. This solid construction also provides a more stable platform for the woofer system, resulting in cleaner, more articulate bass.

Reduced Vibration, Enhanced Bass

Grotto subwoofers have integrated anti-vibration feet that reduce the energy transferred between the subwoofer and your floor, cutting down on rattles, buzzes, and wall vibrations. The result is tighter, cleaner bass with better clarity and dynamics. The feet also help limit vibration transfer into adjoining rooms, making them a less intrusive alternative to acoustic room treatments. They’re safe for all flooring types, and optional carpet spikes are included for improved performance on carpet.

Robust Connectivity

Grotto subwoofers include built-in wireless plus a full range of wired options: XLR for LFE, RCA for stereo left/right and LFE, and an RCA subwoofer output for chaining multiple subs. Speaker-level inputs via banana plugs let the sub receive the same signal that feeds your speakers, which some enthusiasts prefer, and they work with balanced amplifiers. All inputs can be used at the same time, and the Vojtko DSP engine processes and filters the signal cleanly whichever connection you choose.

Built-In Wireless Capability

While a hard-wired connection is still the best method, for flexible placement options, Grotto subwoofers come with a built-in Wireless Receiver and Wireless Transmitter. Featuring lossless transmission, forward error correction, and low latency, even the most discerning enthusiast will be thrilled with the results.

Ultimate Tuning & Control

MartinLogan’s Subwoofer Control app for iOS and Android devices offers the most personalized and convenient way to adjust a subwoofer.
