Home, for Jojo & Brandon, is a feeling. Shaped by sound, steeped in ritual, & designed for life at a gentler pace.
For Jojo & Brandon — the creative minds behind @inslowdaze — building their home wasn't about chasing trends or ticking design boxes. It began with something quieter: a feeling.
"We didn't start with a specific aesthetic or theme in mind. For us, it was more about creating a mood we'd want to come home to." That mood, as it turns out, is inspired by sounds of FKJ —a vibe that feels "laidback, soulful, and unhurried."
A visit to Appetite, the hybrid creative and dining space, sparked something too. It offered a blueprint for the kind of space they envisioned: where music hums in the background and time slows down. From there, they picked pieces they loved — a sculptural Toga sofa, the quiet elegance of a Ariake dining table, kitchen backsplash tiles — and let the rest of the home take shape around them.
There wasn't a rigid styling process, just intuition. "We're not really overthinkers; if we like something, we buy it and figure out where it fits later." The result is a space that feels cohesive, full of character, calm, and charm.
When asked about favourite corners in their home, the living area anchors them most. "We always seem to drift towards the living area, especially at the end of the day. It's the spot we naturally sink into. The Togo sofa, music flowing through the KEF speakers, and soft wood lighting gets us everytime. It's the part of the house that feels the most like us."
Rituals also play a quiet, grounding role. A slow morning tea offers a pause before the day begins — sometimes matcha, with the quiet rhythm of whisking setting the tone. Other times, a thoughtfully chosen tea poured into a favourite cup. "It quiets the mental rush of a workday morning and gently brings me into focus...It's a small, intentional act that helps me stay present."
Sound is ever-present in their home, shaping moments big and small. "The KEF LS50 Wireless II is such a big part of our home. Sound and music matter a lot to us, so there's almost always something playing...Whether it's something upbeat in the morning or low and soulful in the evening, it sets the rhythm of our day and makes everything feel more alive."
More than just great sound, they've become part of the room's identity. "We love how the speakers look. The design and colours sit perfectly in our living room and add character to the space."
As for a track that never fails to bring a little joy? "Sunday Vibes by Masego has been on repeat lately. The smooth sax and laidback groove bring that easy flow we love at home."
